I have always been a big fan of musical theatre and try to participate in as much as possible. I am constantly wanting to grow my understanding and advance my skills.
I would have to say some of my favourite moments of this experience so far are the monthly calls where we all meet over zoom and go over that month's training.
The OVS has allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and showcase my singing to others who have the same hobbies and talents as me.
Being able to learn new techniques every month is a big help and I have already noticed differences when applying them to my singing. Recently I was a part of the OVS open mic night where a few of us gathered on zoom and performed songs that we have all been working on for the last few weeks.
The open mic allowed us to listen to one another and connect to each other. This was such a fun experience full of laughs and smiles and definitely one of my highlights of this journey so far.

We work out in the vocal gym, practicing coordinations and strengthening our muscles so that we have access to the full range of motion of our voice.
Then we bring this with us into the game (the song, the role, the character) and layer in the artistry, the communication, and the magic.

Here's how our programme works:
WEEK 1 - NEW TRAINING DROPS
Enjoy being challenged and stretched with a new musical theatre voice training to implement each month. Relevant tools, engaging presentations and step by step guides to expand your range, projection, ease and performance skills.
WEEK 2 - CHALLENGE UNLOCKED
Get motivation, accountability, deeper learning, and the satisfaction of supporting your friends by joining each new Monthly Challenge in the Online Community. These are built around the month's training and offer you a chance to put what you've learned into practice and get feedback and snaps for your hard work.
WEEK 3 - LIVE CLASS & COACHING
Gather together live to explore a deeper application of the month's training, implement it into your songs and get help working through tricky corners and common traps. This is where we get to explore your questions and individual feedback and all benefit from the results. There's also room for volunteers to receive coaching in front of the group.
WEEK 4 - MONTHLY CHECK-IN
That's a lot! And a lot to catch up on if you haven't been able to sign in live each week (because everything is recorded and available in the studio library for you to review around your busy schedule). But fear not! In Week 4 I'll do a check-in to review the key learnings from the month, summarise interesting discussions in the community, highlight new questions in the Ask Scot section and point you to any special resources I've added to the Studio Library as a result.

We look to figures of authority to see if we get the audition, book the job, are making a 'good' acting choice, the 'right' sound...

The focus is on using specific exercises and exploratory challenges to get to know our instrument on a much deeper level. It's kind of like "dating" your voice each month.

I'm a voice teacher, a dad, a husband, and a total Broadway nerd.
I'm all about giving passionate singers access to world-class information, so that they can go from musical theatre super-fans to emerging professionals and leaders in their theatre communities.
This means going beyond the high notes (though I'll help you find those too) and mentoring you through acting and storytelling skills, performance opportunities and a big picture look at the pathway to your vocal dreams.
